Parents' Guide to Krunker

It's possible that Krunker.io, also known simply as 'Krunker', is the most popular first-person shooter (FPS) game that the majority of the general public hasn't heard of. According to Sidney De Vries, the inventor of Krunker.io, the number of UNIQUE players who participated in the game reached 50 million in July of 2019. The amount of players who have participated in the game more than once is probably somewhere between 80 and 100 million at this point. But can you tell me more about it?

Krunker is a free-to-play tactical first-person shooter game that is played in a browser and features an arena format. Typically, up to eight players will join a lobby and shoot each other to death or compete over an objective. Sounds violent? Hold up a second. Krunker's visual presentation is reminiscent to Minecraft's and Roblox's, with its simpler block-like aesthetics. The game does not include any blood or other graphic violence. Although there are certain firearms in the game, such as an assault rifle, rocket launcher, and Uzi, this is pretty much the extent of the violent content in the game.

Because it is played via a web browser, it may be accessed and played on a variety of platforms, including Windows PCs, Macs, ChromeOS, and even Linux. You have the option of playing the game in the browser of your choice, or you can download the official 'client' version of the game, which is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. The game is exactly the same as it is in the browser version, with a few minor additions here and there. Players on different platforms are able to interact and compete against one another in the game.

Because games only last for around four minutes on average, Krunker is a fun type of game that can be picked up and played at any time. The pace of the game is lightning quick as well. If you die while playing the game, you can respawn almost immediately, which means there is very little waiting time between rounds. This stands in stark contrast to battle royale games that have a slower pace and typically take approximately half an hour for a single match.

The Call of Duty games are the ones that Krunker most closely resembles in terms of its gameplay. Recoil is present in the game, however it is not overly severe for the weapons. Despite the inclusion of several components that are more typical of strategic shooters, Krunker has the feel of an arcade game.

The following are the primary game modes:

  • It's a free-for-all! (FFA)
  • Team Elimination Match (TDM)
