Should You Participate in the Game of Rust?

Rust is not a new game by any means, but its viewership on Twitch has increased in recent weeks. Due to an influx of streamers playing the game, Rust's popularity is on the rise. Should you play the game Rust? Today, we aim to assist you in answering this question.

Rust was created by Facepunch Studios and released in 2013; it is a realistic version of Minecraft. It is a survival game with a heavy emphasis on PVP combat. However, death looting is the sole reason why Rust is such a competitive and brutal game. What does death looting entail? Well, if you die, the opposing player will inherit your possessions! This promotes PVP because you are essentially a walking treasure chest. Rust, in short, is not for every type of gamer, but rather for the most dedicated players.

determining a server

In Rust, your first task is to choose a server to play on, and there are countless options. We recommend a solo/duo/trio server for new players because it restricts the size of teams and reduces the frequency of encountering groups of players. Rust is a game in which it is extremely simple to perish, and it is virtually impossible to win a two-on-one match. Also, choose a server with a low ping, as getting disconnected in this game is the worst possible outcome.

your initial rust encounter

As soon as you enter the unforgiving world of Rust, you will spawn naked on a beach with only a rock and a flashlight. What then? Now is the time to collect enough materials by hacking at trees and stone nodes to fashion a spear, a hatchet, and a pick. If you have not yet perished, we recommend running far away from the beach and avoiding all forms of combat, as they will only slow your progress towards your objective. Your initial objective is to construct a home, a difficult task given that you can be killed at any time and teleported to a random location. A concise list of items and materials is required to construct a wooden home:

  • — Approximately 6000 wood
  • — 20 cloth
  • — A Tool Cabinet
  • — A Hammer
  • — Two Doors and Two Door Locks
  • — A box used for storage

These are only the essentials required for a starter home. The next step is to transform the wooden structure into stone!

Once you have gathered these materials, you must construct a twig house and then upgrade the walls, floors, and roofs to wood, making the structure 100 times stronger than the twig version. Ensure that the Tool Cupboard is authorized, that your door(s) are locked, and that they are locked. NO KEYS ARE REQUIRED TO ENTER YOUR HOME. And don't forget to drop your sleeping bag; this allows you to safely respawn in your new home. We strongly suggest you watch a Rust beginner build guide video.

rust as a challenge

Simply chopping down a tree or gathering some herbs is risky in this game, and you feel constantly paranoid, but after a successful resource run or loot run from the local gas station, you feel a great sense of accomplishment. Even better is when you successfully kill or defend yourself against another player and loot their corpse for the first time. We haven't even discussed eating, drinking, and radiation exposure! Obviously, there is a great deal to learn, but this only makes it more rewarding.

Rust is a grindy, difficult, and unwelcoming experience for new players. When you have a full inventory of loot but die just 200 meters from your home, it is incredibly frustrating. If you choose to play this game, you now know what to expect during the first twelve hours. Spoilers, you will die often - do not trust anyone!
