Check out a few of our favorite animated children's films on Netflix if you're a fan of the genre.

Extinct

Extinct features a pair of adorable doughnut-shaped creatures that travel into the future to discover that they've mysteriously become extinct (along with a very vague message about environmentalism). They join a group of other extinct creatures in an effort to find their way back home. Rachel Bloom, Catherine O'Hara, Ken Jeong, and Adam DeVine are among the comedic actors featured on the program.

The Willoughbys

This highly rated (yet underappreciated) animated film from the year 2020 depicts a slightly unhappy family and their children's dramatic attempts to create a happier home. It features the voices of Jane Krakowski, Martin Short, Maya Rudolph, and Terry Crews among others.

Over the Moon

The film follows a young girl named Fei Fei as she embarks on a legendary journey to prove to her widowed father that love is eternal. Her travels take her to the moon, where a legendary goddess and her miraculous world await. This is a children's film that the entire family will enjoy, and the soundtrack, featuring Phillipa Soo of Hamilton, is certain to become a new favorite. PG rating.

Klaus

This Netflix Original Film explores a new origin story for Santa Claus, making it arguably the best Christmas film for children on Netflix. A slacker postman is sent to a remote part of the world to learn some difficult lessons; there, he unwittingly inspires an entire small town and learns valuable lessons himself. The best time to watch this Netflix children's film is during the holiday season and winter, but it's a worthwhile film to watch year-round. PG rating.

Back to the Outback

In this animated film released in December 2021, a variety of Australian animals in a zoo decide to escape and return to the Outback to live their lives. It teaches children not to judge books solely by their covers (or a living thing by how it looks).
