MIUI 12 Android 11 update: Currently rolling out to Redmi Note 9, Mi 10, Mi 10T series

xiaomi firmware

Mi 10 and Redmi Note 9 in India began receiving the stable Android 11 update based on MIUI 12 in early December. However, the update for the Redmi Note 9 Pro was retracted after a number of issues were reported by customers.

Xiaomi sent out the beta update to global Redmi K30 and Mi 9 devices in late December. POCO began rolling out the beta MIUI 12 Android 11 upgrade for the POCO F2 Pro on December 22, with the stable version to follow shortly.

Xiaomi released the Android 11 update for the Redmi K30 series, Mi Note 10 Lite in the United Kingdom and other Western territories, and the Mi A3 in January. It had a number of problems with the Mi A3 — the update bricked the phone — but Xiaomi has resolved the issues, and the stable build is now available for the A3.

Xiaomi released the Android 11 update for the Mi 10T and 10T Pro on February 5 in India, the United Kingdom, and other international regions. POCO began sending out the MIUI 12 upgrade for the X3 NFC based on Android 11 in Europe in March. A few users have noticed issues and instability, but it is probable that these will be resolved prior to a global rollout.

miui 12.5 android 11 upgrade

Alongside the launch of the Mi 11, Xiaomi announced and begun rolling out MiUi 12.5, its next significant software update, to its newest flagships.

As the name suggests, MIUI 12.5 is not a substantial upgrade. Rather, it builds upon the basis that MIUI 12 established. MIUI 12 features Super wallpaper, while MIUI 12.5 offers even more of them. MIUI 12.5 adds a new clipboard protection function to the privacy and security alarms introduced in MIUI 12.

Xiaomi has also utilized this upgrade to make MIUI faster and more efficient than competing operating systems (Read: iOS and popular Android overlays). The firm now allows users to uninstall all programs save for nine critical system apps (Google apps are exempt), in contrast to competitors such as iOS and Color OS, which have by default a greater number of apps that cannot be removed.

Other added features were ten new ringtones, a revised Mi Notes app, and MIUI+, a service comparable to Chrome OS's built-in Phone Hub or the Your Phone app on Windows phone. It would allow you to connect your Xiaomi phone to a computer in order to interpret notifications, utilize apps, and so on.
